renaming a folder --- the rename line is greyed out

Apr 18, 2004 3:33PM PDT

I am using windows xp and have a desktop icon labeled my documents with sub folders inside. I would like to rename some of the subfolders but am unable to because the rename and create shortcut are greyed out.
I had created afolder called new folder but cannot change its name.

Open the My Documents folder in Explorer. You can rename the sub-folders from there.

Try right clicking the folder, scroll down to properties, and on the General tab the name of the folder should be in a box next to the folder icon, back that off and enter your the new folder name and click 'OK'.
