Removing XP

Mar 13, 2004 3:24AM PST

I have two copies of XP on my hard drive. Long story, but how do I remove one of them?? I know I could save, reformat, etc., but I have way too much software going on and I don't want to invest that kind of time.
thanks

In viewing the Boot.ini you should see two references to XP. You would simply edit out the install you no longer wish. Note to backup the file first in case the wrong install is deleted.

Thanks again, Michael. That allows me to startup the OS I prefer (the previous) but how do I delete that 2nd install? I want to clean up the HD.
thanks

After you are sure that you are booting to the correct install, you would delete any files or format the partition that the unwanted install is on. Note to backup any folders you want to save to some external media first. Many delete the wrong partition and lose everything. A good backup is your only insurance.
