This is my way...

I am not using Windows XP so someone else can give the method in XP. I am using a little program that searches for cookies and allows deletion of them individually or all of them.

You may like to take a look at the free software from the website. Most likely it will solve your problem.

Best of luck!

Depends On The Browser.. If Internet Explorer..
Nov 8, 2008 3:55AM PST

From the Internet Explorer browser, click on "Tools" in the upper left, choose "Internet Options", then on the "General" tab, delete all "Cookies" and "Temporary Internet Files"..

If you're using Firefox, click on "Tools", select "Options", then the "Privacy" tab. From there, click on the "Show Cookies" button, then click on the "Remove All cookies" button.

Hope this helps.

It might be less prone to viruses, and it might be faster, but if you visit the same sites with IE and Firefox both end with exactly the same cookies! No difference at all.

In fact, I find it easier to delete old IE-cookies than old Firefox-cookies. So for that, I definitely prefer IE.

We all do have are favvorites and because likes 1 better it doesn't mean another will. I feel to each their own.

I completly forgot as I hadn't had tracking cookies on a computer in years how to remove them, but then again it was the 1st time in years I installed Yahoo messanger that placed them all.

Now you have me puzzled

How is it possible not to have tracking cookies for years? Did you configure Internet Option by putting a check beside "Override automatic cookie handling" and block third party cookies options?

Every time I close my IE 6 browser, I manually delete all cookies except three which are from websites I use often. I delete using Internet Options' "General Tab"........sometimes I delete in Explore Local Settings\Temporary Internet Files.

RE removing tracking cookies

On my older computer that I got rid of I had it set to remove all cookies when closing Firefox. On this computer it wasn't set and also on the older computer I didn't use Yahoo Messenger,

Just for the record...
Nov 8, 2008 10:18PM PST

All users have their method in dealing with cookies so here is mine using Firefox 3.0.3:

Under Tools>Options>Privacy, I have selected "Accept cookies from sites" and Keep Until "I close Firefox". At the end of the day or when Firefox is closed all cookies are removed.

Exceptions to this can be made under the "Exception" button and keep those desired such as sites routinely frequented that requires cookies. I have limited those to such places as CNet where automatic login is desired. That is the only exception allowed by me and is done as a matter of convenience.

This is my personal preference... am sure others have theirs.

Hope this helps in clarifying the issue a bit.
