Question

Removing previous user name off of my files

I was given a Toshiba laptop with windows 7 and would like to know how to remove previous user's name off of my files and off this laptop period and replace with mine. Help is greatly appreciated.

Clarification Request
Given we can't rename user accounts.

Did you start by creating your own user account and moving to this new account?

When you do this go ahead and create a spare backup ADMINISTRATOR account.

Answer
FAT32

If you move the files to a FAT32 formatted partition, then into your NTFS formatted user account, that should clear the old user permissions from it.
