Removing Office XP

Nov 16, 2003 1:17PM PST

Using Windows XP: While trying to remove Office XP, I received an error message "The patch could not be opened. Verify that the package exists and that you can access it...". Researching the problem at microsoft.com (http://support.microsoft.com/default.aspx?scid=kb;en-us;295823) talks of a fix for all Win OS except XP. Can you help?

Thanks for the tip, however it didn't work. I just tried a Repair installation of Win XP and that didn't work either. Will I have to reformat the drive and install EVERYTHING all over again????

My OS is Win XP and I'm trying to remove Office XP. Using Add-Remove programs gives me the error message(s). I tried using the Msicuu.exe for NT/2000, no luck. I tried using the Office Removal tool for Office XP 2003 (Microsoft says it'll work and remove ALL versions of Office), but still no luck.

If Office XP was a recent install you can use system restore back to before you installed Office XP and it should be removed.

The removal tool has removed Office of various versions even on damaged machines.

Maybe you are asking some other question other than your Subject title?
