Removing Norton Programs/Subsitutions For Norton Products

Sep 1, 2007 4:43PM PDT

My subscription to Norton/Symantec Anti-Virus & Firewall protection is finally
running out. I am going to switch to AVG. I have a friend who made the switch
& is very, very happy she has done so. I know someone else who will remove all
of the Norton/Symantec products off of my computer which is recommended when
switching to AVG since Add/Remove Programs doesn't compeletly remove
Norton/Symantec. (The answer for people who do not know how to completely
uninstall Norton/Symantec products would also be a good question of the week,
but this is not my question.)

There are some Norton/Symantec programs that I do think are essential (unless I
am missing something), & I would to know what should I use as a subsitution:
WinDoctor, DiskDoctor, CookieCleanup. Any suggestions? (Note#1: Am planning
to use AutoLogics Disk Defrag as subsitute for Norton Speed Disk -- good
choice?) (Note #2: Would like to make this switch as cheaply as possible.)

CCleaner will clean out your cookies, temp folders, history and whatever you have checked. It will fix issues for you.

Did you read the reviews for AutoLogics Disk Defrag, here @ CNet?

The version before this one was a little problemlistic. It seems that everyone seem to like this version better.

Make sure that you download the better version here

http://www.download.com/Auslogics-Disk-Defrag/3640-2086_4-10730418.html?pn=10&sb=0&v=0

Also others are also using Diskeeper Lite.

Hope this helps.

Thank you,

CCleaner may answer my question with regard to cookie cleanup. I already have it downloaded, but haven't tried it yet.

Your answer doesn't really answer my question with regard to WinDoctor or DiskDoctor. Are these programs necessary? Do the errors that they claim to fix really keep your computer from crashing & keep it running? If so, what would make good subsititutions?
