Removing network adapters,pc cards for good.......

Toshiba Tecra 500 cdt,WINDOWS 98.Everytime I remove an old pc card or adapter and restart my laptop to install new pc card,all the hardware wizard attempts to install is old removed things that don't exist anymore.How can I permently remove old stuff so I can install new stuff(pc card).And will the new hardware wizard finally detect my new pc card then.

why don't you delete the old drivers from

control panel, Add/remove Hardware

and maybe also in Add/Remove program...

I've removed it several times but it always shows up again-

and the drivers are never installed.they don't function,they end up in the other devices catergory but not working properly.I want to completely delete them but I can't do that by add/remove.And they're never listed in software,only hardware.
