Given you know about what possible lethal voltages are inside, I find most are easily opened by placing the CRT face down on some work area suitable for not scratching the face. Then most if not all retaining screws are visible. Some clam-shell effect is present in most designs as you pry the plastic shell off.
There are no widely available service manuals on these displays, but the design is duplicated widely.
