Removing Draft background

Jun 14, 2005 11:29AM PDT

I am using MS Word 2003 and was given a document with the word "DRAFT" as a background watermark. I am trying to remove the watermark, but according to the page properties, there is no background word or watermark. Am I looking in the wrong place?

Did you try these?

Remove a background

On the Format menu, point to Background.
Click No Fill.
Notes

When no background is specified for a Web page, the page will appear in the default background color set in the Web browser of the person viewing the page.

If you want to remove a theme, which includes document backgrounds, design elements, and color schemes, use the Themes command on the Format menu.

Remove a watermark

On the Format menu, point to Background, and then click Printed Watermark.

Click No watermark.

Note If you inserted a watermark into the document header and did not use the Printed Watermark dialog box, then you should view the header, and manually delete the watermark.

If all these clever methods fail ...

try to copy/paste the contents of the document (ctrl-A, ctrl-V) to a new document. But you will have to redo the styles, unless you happen to have the correct template without DRAFT. So better try removing it.

Watermarks
Jun 15, 2005 6:50AM PDT

Watermarks are, somewhat surprisingly, carried in the Heater and Footer layer of the docunent.

Go to View > Header and Footer.
Highlight whatever watermark you wish to delete.
Hit Delete

Usually, if you do this on Page 1, it will delete it on all pages.

Hope this helps.
