Question

removing 'Copy of' for Excel 2016

We currently use the same excel template edited with new details for different clients. However recently when we come to 'save as' the document it gets prefixed with 'copy of'. This only happens saving to the network drive (which we have full control over). This only seemed to affect excel and not word or powerpoint.

Re: save

I think that can happen if it's read-only for some reason. Ask the IT-staff to find what has changed on the server.

IT confirm

IT confirm permissions of the drive in question haven change and all out files ARE NOT in read only mode come of them come up as protected. We tried disabling protected view which stopped the documents being protected but did not solve the 'Copy of' issue
