Removing CNR client from Ubuntu8.04

Jul 27, 2008 9:50PM PDT

I am fairly new to Linux but am finding it very enjoyable. Currently I am running the newest release of Ubuntu and it works great. I dual boot with Windows 2000 Pro on a large Sata drive.

I needed a proprietary program and was unable to find it in repositories so I installed the CNR client from cnr.com. I was able to use this app quit well, at first. But now icon is black instead of green and anything I try to install using it comes up with error " unable to write to data base". I tried to uninstall through add/remove, no CNR remove link. Need help to uninstall. Reinstall failed also. Can not find help for this problem on their site or forums either.

I had tried Google Search to no avail, but my error was including the "8.04" in search. Thank you so much. I am having fun with Linux, and may drop my Win2000. I use Win2000 for my farm records, but seems i could do same style spreadsheets and ledgers with Open Office. Thats my next project.

Once again, thank you.

Just sharing how I work to find solutions seems to work most of the time.

-> There are so few farmers it seems today. Just watched the PBS documentary "King Corn." Very good.

Ubuntu is also using it now? How much do they charge or what is the subscription fee?

By going to cnr.com you can get the cnr client. it is impressive, i just had a few problems with it. I now use apt-get in a terminal.

They have a free version and for some items they charge a fee.If you have a Gold Account (yearly fee of $45) the prices for items is lower.
