Boot in safe mode, then remove it. You might give CWShredder a shot, do a Google for it, it's free.

Accoona Problems - Can't Get to secure sites
Sep 8, 2005 7:08AM PDT

Has any one else had the problem that they can't get to https sites like www.ticketmaster.com or my banking without Accoona coming up when I go to the secure site ?

Their instructions they give you to remove it are the following but they don't seem to work and my Norton install / remove seems to disabled so I can't use my PC - cillen 2005:

SpySweeper did not seem to get to it but I will try once more as this is a huge problem for me and I have been working with my ISP Provider, installed Mozilla (no luck with that),Sony and Linksys to name a few. Stay away from it folks ! I am not sure how I got it but I have had problems since it arrived.

Question

How do I remove the Accoona Search Assistant?

Answer

The Accoona Search Assistant permits you to search directly from the Address Bar of your browser window.

To turn this feature off without removing it, follow the instructions at: How do I enable or disable the Accoona Search Assistant?

To uninstall the Accoona Search Assistant entirely:

Determine which version of the Accoona Toolbar you have installed by clicking on Accoona Menu > Help > About.
If your Toolbar Version is less than 1.0.2.0, update to Version 1.0.2.0 by re-installing the Toolbar from http://www.accoona.com/toolbar/toolbar_installation.jsp and follow the instructions below.
If your Toolbar Version is 1.0.2.0 or higher, just follow the instructions below.
Go to the Control Panel > Add or Remove Programs.
Select Accoona Search Assistant 1.1.
Click on the Change/Remove button.
When prompted to close all browser windows, click on the OK button. All browser windows will be closed while the Search Assistant is uninstalled.
On the Search Assistant Uninstallation pop-up window, click OK.
Once the uninstallation is complete, the browser will re-launch automatically.

These actions will delete all traces of the Accoona Toolbar and the Search Assistant from your computer.

..including the SpySubtract program which fixed Craig's problem?

Although SpySubtract requires a small investment of money, you might start by using the free spyware removal tools from the links below. Download, install, update, then run the ALL:
