Removing 1-area code from caller ID

by 1SpudNuts1 / July 4, 2014 3:04 AM PDT

I have a panasonic phone system that has a base station and 4 handsets (I've had other panasonic phone systems that do the same thing).

The issue is that when I receive a call, the caller ID shows up with a 1 and the area code. That makes quick dialing from the caller ID screen impossible. You keep getting an error that the area code is not required and it doesn't dial.

Is there a way to turn that off so that local calls only show the number and not the 1-area code?

Any help would be appreciated?
Thanks in advanced.
