Question

Remove Myself as Administrator

Feb 15, 2014 2:29PM PST

I am giving laptop w/XP PRO installed to someone. I am the orginal administrator.

I made the new person an administrator. I put some of my files that will be helpful in their account. Is it safe to remove myself as an administrator and user?

How to move my bookmarks to his account? Firefox (admin related suff)

Does he need to be registered as the owner w/Microsoft?

Anything else I need to do?

Answer
YES, but only after creating a spare admin account.

Due to no fix for the XP CORRUPT PROFILE issue you always need 2 admin accounts for safety. Just create the spare and then you can remove yours altogether.

How about just renaming my administrator account in the name of the person I am giving the laptop to? It is a fresh install with all the latest updates. All the documents and browser bookmarks, favorites are relevant for the new owner. I did not set up any email clients.

I'm going with not a good idea.

Unless you remove your account you may leave more than you thought behind. Your choice of course.
