Question

Remove InstallConverter Bundle Uninstaller pgm & Websteroid

Mar 24, 2014 5:54AM PDT

Borrowing a well-worded description of another sufferer: "I am trying to remove the Websteroid application which came with the installation of the "InstallConverter bundle uninstaller" program published by InstallConverter. When I go to the uninstall or change a program page[Windows 8 system for me] and try to uninstall the program, a window pops up indicating that when SearchProtect was installed, other applications were also installed. I was able to remove all other applications except Websteroid. When I hit the Remove button it does not remove it. Hitting the Remove All button also does not remove it and only succeeds in eliminating this window. The InstallConverter bundle uninstaller program remains on the list of programs." By the way, I don't believe I knowingly installed this program. But "Programs and Features" in Control Panel says this was installed on 3/16/14, a day after I DID install Microsoft Silverlight. I suspect a connection. Other tech sites have recommended downloading "Farbar Recovery Scan Tool". Has anyone experienced this "PUP" ( tech sites' label) and successfully removed it. Any help would be appreciated.
