Resolved Question

Remove exe file?

Dec 29, 2012 2:15AM PST

I've somehow ended up with this file in my downloads folder:
EMNoxbrN.exe.part

It's a stubborn one and I can't get rid of it. Can't move it to the trash or on my desktop, when opening it just says application not found. I'm also unable to find it via Spotlight, yet it clearly shows in my downloads folder with a generic icon. I tried various tricks in Terminal (such as rm -f, etc.), but to no avail. Anybody has better ideas?

Hmmmm!

That was interesting: after reboot into safe mode, the file was gone and it remained gone after the subsequent regular reboot - simply disappeared, no need to delete anymore. MagicWink
Any insight why? (just trying to learn here).
Thanks a bunch!

No idea,

except that it may have been a file that was already deleted but was somehow stuck in the file that controls the contents and location of files on your machine.

Rebooting caused the file to be refreshed.
