Sorry, I have the same problem, so I can't help you. But you helped me...I can only remote access my office computer if i bring my home computer in to work (it's a laptop) and literally plug it with an ethernet cable in to the network router.
So, i have all the basic settings correct. But I can't access it when my lap top is home.
I think you have the answer- change the settings on my router. But how do i know what settings I need?
thanks,
Farrell
I am trying to connect from home to my office computer both are running win xp pro spk 2, i setup the office computer to allow remote access as described by microsoft, and i do from my home what i need to do to connect to it but no luck, ok i will tell you what i did in my office, i access my router and under port forwarding i addedd the ip of the office computer and assign port 3398, from home i am typing
the office ip:3398, and still does not connect, i also added in the office computer a user and a password and i assigned to this userd admistrator rights, firewall is off on this office computer this is the message i get when trying to connect
"Remote desktop disconnected
the client could not connect to the remote computer
remote connections might not be enabled or the computer might be too busy to accept new connections.
it is also possible that network problems are preventing your connection."
by the way the office or host computer has remote enabled and also the user account is added to that computer wich is the one i use from home to connect to the office computer, any help or suggestions ?
Thanks
