I can traceroute to that desktop as well, once on the remote desktop open a command window to query with IPCONFIG /ALL (most versions of Windows.)

I'm not sure your post leaves me any the better than I was before. I am a laymen, one might even say computer challenged. I need access to a remote computer and I need it to display it's local IP address from where it will be connected to the net. I don't know if this is possible. Do you need me to pay you for a clear factual answer? I wouldn't mind that given you can deliver. I'm not familiar with a lot of computer lingo and processes nor am I much interested.

Re: IP-address

- You need access to a remote computer. How are going to do that?
- Do you mean the local IP-address (that what it gets of the router) of that other computer? Or the external IP-address (that what is shows to the Internet, which is the IP-address of the router)?

- If you are not much interested, then why do you want to know this?

Remote access

I was going to use a remote access software program perhaps the one that comes with windows.

I would like the remote computer I'm access from a different location to display the IP address of where it is connection to the internet, NOT the IP address of the local computer I'm using to access it.

I would like the remote computer to display it's external IP address just like it normally would, with me accessing it from a different location.

Time for the testing.

If I am on a work PC from home, when I issue the IPCONFIG /ALL I get the IP of the work PC's connection just like I do when I'm at work.

I worry that you haven't tried this. Please try it.
