General discussion

remote control

Jul 12, 2005 10:14PM PDT

I have an old Compaq Internet appliance that I want to use as a wireless media interface between my main desktop and my stereo in order to play digital music. My question is how to control it remotely. Is there a remote control that will display a songlist from my main computer on my TV so I can select and play songs? Should I look for RF or IR technology?

Thanks,

Dan

I think its a Compaq Ipaq C500 (PIII-500). I think there is one available PCI slot if there is an RF or IR card I can buy. I like it because it is a small upright case that will kind of blend in with my other A/V equipment.

I was under the impression you had one of the Media Center units and needed a replacement control. In your case, any Hauppaugge or ATI TV/capture PCI card with the remote control will work nicely and for bonus remote controls look at the remote controls SNAPSTREAM listed at www.snapstream.com
