If a company's laptop is turned off, but is still plugged into the company's network can it be access remotely from another computer/laptop from the company's network? Or remotely accessed any other way?

So if the laptop is off, but still plugged into the company's network how would you go about accessing the information on the laptop. During digital investigations if a computer or laptop is turned off you are NOT to turn the laptop on. How would you gain that access to the hard drive and memory to collect volatile evidence? Would you have to take the hard drive out?
Note: This is for a school project.
