remote access my home computer

I am looking for help on any programs,etc to remote access my home computer from any other computer through the internet.I sometimes work on friends computers,& it would be good to be able to access mine to retrieve programs,files,documents,etc.
I am running windows XP pro

Remember that if you can access your machine, then it's possible that everyone else on the internet will be able to as well.

Since I don't want that I use TWO programs and one client program to get to the desktop and files on the road.

1. Desktop access is via TIGHTVNC. I will not supply any links for you in this post, but tell you to type the all capital word into google.com.

2. File access is down with OPENSSH for the server and WINSCP or PUTTY.

My friend introduced me to Remote Administrator.He accesses his home computer from work(both are on cable).He accesses mine when I have problems I can't fix and I'm dial-up.Of course,all computers to be linked together have to have this program installed.Good Luck!
