Remembering Screensaver

by gpc111 / July 3, 2010 8:06 AM PDT

I use an HP with XP SP 2. I set my screensaver through the display property window. I choose the screensaver, click apply, and then OK. But when I recheck it the screensaver has returned to "none". I find this very annoying and no matter which screensaver I choose or how many times I choose a screensaver it always changes to "none". Any ideas on how to correct this will be greatly appreciated. Thank you

I don't like to bring up but REGISTRY CLEANERS and MALWARE often break this one.

http://phorums.com.au/archive/index.php/t-192638.html is one of many discussions where we find registry entries missing.

Think back. Any hits on the machine with registry cleaning or malware?

Thank you for your replies. Most of the screensavers I use are either Astro Gemini or 3 Planet. It really doesn't matter which one I choose. They do preview OK and I can change settings. But as soon as I click OK I can check later and it is back to none. The screensaver I prefer is called Screensaver Commander.

As for my registry, I have Tune Up Utilities 2010 run in the background and I scan regularly with Norton 360 4.0. I don't recall ever having any problem in this area. I will run a scar though just to check it out.

a reboot did not help. It still had "none" selected. I'm ready to give up. But I appreciate your ideas. Thank you

Help, my PC with Windows 10 won't shut down properly

Since upgrading to Windows 10 my computer won't shut down properly. I use the menu button shutdown and the screen goes blank, but the system does not fully shut down. The only way to get it to shut down is to hold the physical power button down till it shuts down. Any suggestions?
