Remembering Passwords

Jul 8, 2005 2:03AM PDT

I foolishly told IE not to remember the login/password info for a site. Now I find a visit that site frequently and would like IE to remember the login/password info. Microsoft help says the only way to fix this problem is to "erase" all existing login/password information and start from scratch. Anyone know a way to keep what I already have and set IE to remember the login/password info in this situation?

tnx

To adjust AutoComplete settings

You can configure AutoComplete to save and suggest only the information you want. You can choose whether to use AutoComplete for Web addresses, forms, and passwords, or not use it all. You can also clear the history for any of these.

In Internet Explorer, on the Tools menu, click Internet Options.
Click the Content tab.
Under Personal information, click AutoComplete.
Select the check boxes for the AutoComplete options you want to use.

remembering passwords

I've got all the parameters set as you suggest ... my situation is that I've got everything set up, everytime I visit a new site IE asks if I want it to remember passwords/logins. If I tell it "yes" I'm OK, if I tell it "no", I can't find a way to go back and "change my mind". I said no to remembering login/password info for a site; now I would like IE to remember the login/password information. I'm looking for a way to tell IE to [please] remember my information for this one site.

''Records'' keeping.

I foolishly told IE not to remember the login/password info for a site.

1. Not really since IE isn't that intelligent. 'u just opted for an authorized option that writes what you want to a record on the box, and as long as that record exists, then you're not asked to do anything further.

2. Since I have no idea what operating system is in use, or the version of IE used, you'll have to read between the lines to perhaps make sense of it, so:

PART I: Read what has already been posted in the forum thread, ''Flirting with disaster in my opinion, but. . . .'' It is nothing more that what every user of a computer should know and understand, just as ''Part II'', next.

PART II: ''Cookie hype.''

3. Since you now know, and understand the ''records concept'' of both IE and the system, you should understand that just about every site you see through the computer's eyes that a record of some sort is kept (remembered) for use later. You understand now where those records are, what they do, and how to remove them anytime you're through using them.
