Reloaded Windows XP but can't read the full screen

Hope someone can help me. I have a Dell Dimension Model 4600---two years ago I replaced the monitor and bought a Dell 17" monitor when the original one went bad. Today I just loaded the Windows XP operating system disk as I was having problems for awhile now and just got a new computer---so thought I would try to fix the old one up. Now I can't read all of the screen as it is hiding over to the left. It's like it doesn't recognize the newer monitor. I tried loading the disc for the new monitor but I can't read the disk because of the screen problems. Are there other driver discs that should be loaded first????. thanks

I'd start over again.

And since you don't have install notes, try the different install orders till you get it right.

That's what I'm going to do.

I'm going to start from scratch again. I have a step by step instructon from Dell. I just feel the replaced monitor is causing me problems. Thanks for your help and any suggestions I'll keep checking this site.
