A few boot repair CDs are out there but no legitimate XP CDs are downloadable.
It's been proposed as a great way to send out rootkits or worse is to put such into said downloads.
But to answer your question. The version must match since the CD KEY used for a XP SP1 CD does not work for a XP SP2 CD.
my friend has a labtop that was made for her by one of her old friends. she was asking me if it was possible to reinstall windows on it even tho she doesnt have the windows cd for it anymore. i downloaded a program that'll show me what her current windows XP professional CD key is on her labtop is. I was wanting to know...Can I use any version of windows XP professional CD I download online? or does SP1 or SP2 versions matter? Ive always used the cd that came with my computer to do it but since she doesnt have the cd anymore I dont know if a certain version matters. I know it'd have to be a windows xp professional cd. just not sure if the updates and all that matter or if theres older versions or newer versions of the cds.. hope i'm making some sort of sence.
