reinstalling the Sound and Multimedia part of the system

Hi,
probably the part of the os dedicated to manage the audio card is corrupted. No sound from my speaer, errors when I try to access to Sound Control Panel etc etc
Is there any way to reinstall only the broken part of the system? Consider that I only have the 'restore' cd, I got the XP bundled buying an Acer Travelmate.

you need to reinstall the driver on the desktop[ right click my computer propertys hardware tab device manager high light the sound card double click it click reinstall driver and presto pop the xp disk in and let it do it good luck hope this helps
