Reinstalling the Printer

Mar 11, 2015 3:38AM PDT

It seems that the HP Photosmart printer C4780 has uninstalled itself after a router issue. I thought I had the CD to re-install it but all I could find was the C4700 CD and at the end of installation it could install the whole CD it says go to www.hp.com/support to download an installer but when I do that it takes me to a blank page besides I never have luck with anything having to do with HP. How can I get a CD for the C4780 it seems this thing just doesn't exist or I am looking in the wrong place. Any suggestions...and ty in advance..

Printer downloads

Go to a search engine, input HP Drivers and Software, that should get you to the site. Cite printer type and model number, you should be able to download from there. Make sure you know your OS, Win 7, etc. and if it is 32 or 64 bit. Generally when I do this procedure, I save the download..to downloads and do the installation(run) from there just in case there is an issue in future I can always go to downloads and do a reinstallation. if you don't know whether your system is 32 or 64 bit, go to control panel and open System, that will tell you which it is.

Here's The Link to Your HP Printer Page...

You'll need to select the OS for your computer and you'll then be taken to the software download page for your printer. But yes, the C4700 software is the correct installation software and it should allow you to reinstall your printer.. One note, be sure to UNINSTALL the printer and printer software from all locations, including the "Devices and printers" display before reinstalling.

Hope this helps.

Uninstall
Mar 11, 2015 11:52PM PDT

Good call Grif, I thought about uninstall after I posted..After having done SO many uninstalls/ installs over the years I guess myself as with some others, assume that people know to uninstall a peripheral device prior to re installing..the old ASSUME syndrome..thanks for clarifying for that.
