While this points to problems of not creating a "recovery kit" with restore and install CDs complete with intall notes and keys you could run BELARC ADVISOR and print that out so you might have the keys it finds.
As to copying "applications" it's best you know that in 1995 Microsoft took a new direction with the "registry" and more items that stop copying applications dead cold. This and a few other reasons are why applications don't copy. There is no sign of this tide going back out to sea.
I need to re-install my applications on my newly reformatted drive.
I can't locate my serial numbers for my applications. I was successful the last time I had to copy all my files back onto a new drive.
