Question

Reinstalling 10.6

Oct 13, 2011 7:10AM PDT

My MacBook Pro Early 2008 came with 10.5 & I purchased the 10.6 disk a while ago. I installed updates to get it to 10.6.8.

Is this the 10.6 disk that you purchased?

If it came with your iMac, then it would be a grey color.

Answer
If it says 10.6.4

If it says 10.6.4 then it's not a retail disc, it's from some other unit. The retail discs topped out at 10.6.3 for some reason. I've seen up to 10.6.6 I think on some of the early Early 2011 units pre-Lion. So what you have is not a retail disc, and that is at least part of your problem.
