Reinstall XP upgrade- had Windows 98SE

by 2bfree / September 30, 2005 3:24 AM PDT

I have been reading about sometimes having to re-install XP. In order to be prepared, I was making up a package with floppies and find my XP upgrade CD has gone AWOL! The package is there along with the serial number, no CD Sad
I know, I should have bought the more expensive one, but that one would be AWOL now too!
If, God forbid, I ever have to re-install, any suggestions?

You did activate it, but by registering you can get replacement media for cheap (compared to the alternative.)

Click Start, Help and Support and type registration and click Search. I think the second item will have at link to start the registration wizard.

And I checked and this works too.

AKA Microsoft in Redmond and begin the phone tag. But replacement media the last time was 35 bucks. I can't give you the price it is today since its been a few months since the last time another person went through this.

Help, my PC with Windows 10 won't shut down properly

Since upgrading to Windows 10 my computer won't shut down properly. I use the menu button shutdown and the screen goes blank, but the system does not fully shut down. The only way to get it to shut down is to hold the physical power button down till it shuts down. Any suggestions?
