tdeeork,

Just a suggestion here. It appears like you have "repaired" Windows by reinstalling to a new Windows folder. Although that type of installation can be beneficial for recovering important documents, in my opinion, a full reformat and reinstall of Windows will create a better installation and eliminate many of those "unnecessary" files you are talking about. The hard drive will be "wiped" and only one Windows folder will be created. After you've installed Windows, you'll still need to install the drivers that you have saved, but the intallation should be more reliable. Take a look at the links below on how to get that done.

If you really have everything in windows1, and it works, you can safely delete the whole original windows folder in my opinion.

For installing the modem driver: remove the modem from device manager and reboot. Point 'the new hardware wizard' to your diskette to get the drivers from. That should work. If it doesn't give more details then just "noops".

Hope this helps.
