Reinsert the Cassette Error

by tomatozilla / March 12, 2007 11:05 AM PDT

Local repair shop has received our Sony DCR-PC1000 three times, each time they say camera is really dirty and we must clean it and not use old tapes (will not answer question about how many uses is old), they presumably clean it but never get the cleaner tape we asked them to order for us after first problem, we get camera back and record a few minutes then same error. W/new tapes. Or older previously functioning tapes. We aren't experiencing degradation of image, simply inability to get past reinsert the cassette error. If it is dirty, it's because they aren't cleaning it HOWEVER I'm doubtful I can keep it clean enough to warrant the further expense and downtime investment! Sony doesn't make much recommendation about care and feeding! Your experience? thanx

sony sux

If I were you I would just buy a new camera that is not sony. They want to charge half the price of a new camera to fix an old one. They also have horrible customer service that just wants to get you off the phone so that you don't complain. If I cant get my handycam DCR-TRV250 fixed then I am simply going to buy a Cannon.

Try this - works for other faults

On the function panel behind the LCD screen you will find a small "Reset" button. With power on depress it with a pencil tip or other thin object. This action restores the default logic of the camera and often overcomes these issues.
Good luck.
