reguarding operating system

i have brought new laptop with out operating system . its DVD drive is not opening up . is it because it does not have operating system or is it because it has some hard ware problem

Without an OS, a computer is just a doorstop.

Good question. What does opening up mean? I would assume that it has no power, should the drive tray not open allowing a user to insert a disc -- doesn't really mean it's going to be understood though.

I take it you tried to open the DVD by pressing its button. What was the result? Did the DVD led light upon
power-up? Is there any reaction afer applying power? These questions and just what system is, etc. as the previous poster suggested is a strong hint, nothing can be fixed until supplied. Sad -----Willy
