When using acronyms, define them as I may not know what OTC is.

Hello,
I purchased an otc registry cleaner called Registry Mechanic version 7 and my Kaspersky detected a "Backdoor Trojan" on it upon attempting installation. So I did not install it. It may be a false positive but I don't know that. I don't believe its a good idea to skip the warning from my KAV virus program and install it and then send a copy of the file to the company. So what are my options as this does not sound like a warranty problem or is it?

I got it from Office Max in Philadelphia, Pa. OTC means over the counter.
Hello again,
I called support and reached CNet the distributor for PcTools. They actually advise me to disable my antivirus program in order to install their registry program. Then they said to enable the antivirus program and run a full scan and this should take care of it. I never heard of such a thing. That backdoor trojan could be hiding a virus or spyware and thats what I told Support. These things, once in the system can be difficult to remove sometimes.
So I suggested if I can be allowed to download version 8 and use the activation number thats on the back of the version 7 CD. They said no because it is software bought at a retail store. Now if I had downloaded, I would have received the updated version 8 and I may not have had this problem. This is a rotting way to do business. Well I won't be doing business with either of these companys again.
