General discussion

registry cleaners

Feb 23, 2010 11:54AM PST

Hi all ,

A registry cleaner removes unused/obsolete entries from the windows registry which will make the PC less likely to display system error messages.

Has anyone know about best registry cleaners in the market?

Thanks in advance.

Treat Registry Cleaners with caution

Some time ago I purchased a well known Registry Cleaner. After using it, my computer did not work properly and I had to reinstall Windows.

The only cleaners I now occasionally use are CCleaner and the one that comes with Windows Live One Care Scanner. These seem to be gentle (if that's the right term) registry cleaners.

Windows Live One Care creates a system restore point before doing any alterations to the registry. With CCleaner make sure you tick the option to back up the registry.

That's false. An unused entries is not used and creates no errors. Same for obsolete. But this could SELL some on the cleaner. So while false it could be good news to the company that sells these.

Yes, it mattered back in Windows 98 days. But the legacy has folk destroying their Windows time and time again. It's reached the point where I'm unkind to any registry cleaner.
