registering korean cell phone on canadian plan

by 49raba / March 2, 2007 12:10 PM PST

Is it possible to purchase a cell phone in Korea (the phones here kick ***!), take it back with me to Canada and then sign it up on a plan there?

I'm looking to get one that is tri or quad band, GSM, unlocked and has a SIM card.

Is it possible to register the phone here on a pay-as-you-go plan here in Korea then take it back to Canada, switch the SIM card and sign up for a regular plan just like I would if I bought a phone in Canada and was paying a regular monthly fee?

From time to time I will be back in Korea where I would like to just switch the SIM card again and use the pay-as-you-go plan.

Could the same thing be done with a CDMA phone even though they don't have a SIM card? Buy one here on a pay-as-you-go plan then take it to Canada and register it for a plan there?
