RegCure will NOT Uninstall !! HELP, PLEASE !

by Elder_Statesman / July 6, 2009 8:47 AM PDT

Like so many, I fell for trying the free RegCure download. Let's just say, results of that effort convinced me this was not the product for me. However, I'm beginning to fear that I'm married to it!

I have an HP Model G60, running Vista. 320Mb Disk drive; 3Meg RAM.

THE PROBLEM: I cannot uninstall the trial version of RegCure; and I sure don't want to download the Full version, given this problem! I have tried, unsuccessfully, 3 ways: 1)uninstall through the Control Panel option; 2) selected RegCure Uninstall, via All Programs; 3)going into Computer\C:\Program Files\RegCure, and attempting to delete the files individually.

In the case of #1 & #2, received the usual schtick response, am I sure I want to uninstall, given so many fatal-sounding problems with my Registry keys, yada, yada. When I finally select Uninstall after each prompt of 5 or 6 times, the "nag" screens disappear. If I select uninstall again, it says, "Please wait while uninstall completes"...which, of course, it never does.

#3 produces a different, but no less frustrating outcome -- the RegCure program apparently has embedded protection from deletion, because it tells me I don't have administrative authority to delete. Imaginative, but no less false. I know how my admin rights are set, and this is NOT the issue. Moreover, I've discovered, from a review of all files that populated my machine during download, that ParetoLogic has a succession of these "nag" (html) files, that pop up to discourage the user from abandoning the addiction to this software.

SO, MY QUESTION: given all 3 failed attempts, is there a FOURTH WAY that works, or some other failsafe software that will remove unwanted programs? I am afraid to load much more onto this computer, without first ridding myself of this scourge, Regcure. What a nefarious application ! PLEASE -- SOMEBODY -- HELP ME !!!!!!

RegCure Uninstall Instructions
by Pareto Rep / August 5, 2009 4:34 AM PDT

Hello Elder_Statesman

We regret to hear of the difficulties that you have experienced.

If you have still been unable to uninstall RegCure, please find below some guidelines on moving forward.

It?s unusual that the installer does not complete however perhaps something is getting in the way. The RegCure icon in the taskbar needs to be right-clicked and select exit to close RegCure completely.

We would suggest that you try the regular form of uninstalling and in also try in Safe Mode.

With option 3 you say ?going into Computer\C:\Program Files\RegCure, and attempting to delete the files individually.? Which is something that should never be done. In fact you may wish to reinstall RegCure again just to ensure that the files required for uninstall are available.

How to uninstall RegCure?

A. Preferred method

a. Select Windows ?Start? menu on the taskbar (normally located at lower left corner of screen).

b. Select ?All Programs? menu item.

c. Select ?RegCure? menu item.

d. Select ?Uninstall? menu item and follow the directions.

B. Alternate method

a. Select Windows ?Start? menu on the taskbar (normally located at lower left corner of screen).

b. Select ?Control Panel? menu item.

c. On Windows Vista

i. Select ?Uninstall a program?

ii. Select ?ParetoLogic DriverCure?

iii. Select ?Uninstall/Change? and follow the directions

d. On Windows XP

i. Select ?Add or remove programs?

ii. Select ?ParetoLogic DriverCure?

iii. Select ?Remove? and follow the directions.

CAUTION? Never attempt to remove installed programs by deleting the directories in the Windows Program directories. Doing so will result in a confused computer system that may no longer operate properly.

We hope that this resolves the issue that you are currently experiencing. If it does not, please send an email to our online Support Team for further assistance.

Kindest Regards
Paretologic Liaison

Even though already installed, re-install it in case of corrupted past un-install features that remain, the path to remove it is uncorrupted. Next, get your hands on Revo uninstaller, available at CNET's downloads files section. Google if you must. With that pgm. ready, then use it to uninstall RegCure. Use the "advanced" feature and allow it to proceed. Follow the prompts and click. Hopefully, it removes all remaments and you continue on. Of course, this is good to use on the future, its worthwhile to keep when other pgms. need to be uninstalled.
