General discussion

Regcure

Jan 27, 2007 10:04AM PST

I am using Windows XP Professional. I have an HP L1906 computer. It is running VERY slowly. On Google I saw a link to Regcure. It claimed to enable your computer to run better and had a free download. I downloaded the free software and it ran a scan for me. It claimed I have 80 plus errors on my Registry. I needed to download and purchase the full software to fix my problems. I "chickened out" and did not download the software. I would be glad to purchase the software it is indeed legitimate and worth the money. Do you know anything about it? I was originally trying to find out how to delete cookies. I'd really appreciate help. Domogirl

Uninstalled RegCure
Jul 31, 2007 4:39PM PDT

I've decided to uninstall RegCure. When trying to uninstall, a warning came up saying that I had 155 registry errors and am I sure I really want to uninstall. That's impossible as I just ran other programs with success. I think RegCure use a high figure when you try and uninstall in order to scare you!

Try running RegCure, it will find loads of errors, then re-boot and run again. You will be amazed when RegCure finds loads of errors again.

Someone from RegCure replied to one of my posts. It was just a selling response with so much to read. I felt dizzy afterwards. It would be better to keep such replies short and simple!!

Virus detection of RegCure
Aug 2, 2007 3:51AM PDT

There has been a great deal of speculation about Panda's detection of RegCure within their virus definitions.

We have been working with Panda on the false positive issue and Panda has confirmed the removal of signatures and encyclopedia as of this morning.

The detection was indeed a false positive, and this has been confirmed by Panda.

I regret any concern that this has caused you.

RegCure detecting more errors on rerun
Aug 2, 2007 3:57AM PDT

Hello Yamkin

Thank you for your feedback. There are a couple of possibilities for what you are seeing.

Most often, this situation involves the removal of empty registry keys. Frequently the registry items are removed by RegCure and are re-created during regular computer operations. For example, Microsoft Windows creates empty registry keys that are safe to delete and then are automatically generated again by the operating system. You can add these items to your Ignore list if you do not want to see them in future scans.

You can send items to the Ignore list during step 3 of the scan process. The items are not removed and RegCure will ignore these entries in upcoming scans.

To send items to the Ignore list:
Click the Ignore link next to any item.

To view items in your Ignore list:
Click the Settings button in the Main window and click the Ignore List tab.

You can remove an item in the Ignore list:
Select one or more items.
Click the Remove Selected button.

Refer to the RegCure help file for more information (click the Help button in the Main window or press the F1 key).

If this is not the case for you could you please submit a RegCure log file for us?

Could we please ask you to send an email to support@regcure.com with all the details of your problem as well as everything you have tried to fix the problem and attach the RegCure log file:

C:\Program Files\RegCure\Logs\Regcure.log

However, if you choose to leave RegCure uninstalled, and have ordered within the last 60 days, please contact Customer Support with your order number and you are eligible to receive a full refund under Paretologic's 60 day 100% satisfaction guarantee.

Thank you and regards,

Refunds
Mar 7, 2008 10:08PM PST

Hello Laura:
Please do not state a "Paratologic offers a 60 day money back guarantee on all of its propucts" on this post. I requested a refund three days after purchase of one of your procucts. Your product did not work for my application. I guess I will have to ask my credit Company not to make payment.
Thank You for a false statement

REGCURE FROM PARETOLOGIC IS A BIG LIE!
Sep 9, 2008 9:26AM PDT

BEWARE, REGCURE SENDS HIS REP OUT THERE DECEIVING PUBLIC.... ONCE REGCURE RIP YOU OFF, THEY WILL NEVER RESPOND TO YOU!!

REGCURE IS A SCAM. Paypal is the accomplist in supporting their scam.

I just purchased Reg cure for $18.99 thru CompUSA, which in turn channel the sale thru tigerdirect.com. Upon receiving the link, the downloaded program was the free version which has no function at all. I tried disputing thru Paypal, however the verdict was that Paypal will not help you recover fund when the product is "less" than described; only shipped wrong product or no shipment of product is refunded. Frankly I don't understand the idiotic logic in this... if something useless was sent to me, that should categorized to be the same as not sending me any product at all.
BUYERS BEWARE OF REGCURE USING THIS LOOPHOLE TO SCAM PEOPLE!! BY THE WAY, REGCURE DID NOT RESPOND TO ANY EMAIL, NOR DO THEY HAVE A PHONE # FOR CONTACT. DON'T BUY FROM MERCHANT THAT HIDES THEMSELVES!!!

Regcure is bona fide but didn't work for me
Sep 20, 2007 4:31AM PDT

I had similar problems with my computer (I still do). I downloaded Regcure and after checking on the internet and being satisfied that they were bona fide I bought it to fix the hundreds of problems that it identified. It fixed the registry but my system was still just as slow but now my antivirus (Sophos) wouldn't work. I emailed Regcure asking for my money back and amazingly 3 days later the money was in my account. So it didn't work for me but they are kosher to deal with. Hope this helps.

Not comfy w/ RegCure $$$ info. buried
Oct 1, 2007 9:45AM PDT

I've been using Registry Mechanic. While looking on comparison sites, I ran across testimonials tht claimed RegCure is superior.

Did the free scan and sure enough, it came up with over 2000(!) errors, and this just after I'd run a scan w/R.M.

So, okay, I thought, I might as well look and see how much they want for such a winner, right?

Welllll, I didn't see it anywhere on the home page, or the next 2 or 3 following.

I don't know about you guys, but I'm not comfortable with this because every other program that I've bought or downloaded has been very up-front about what the buyer's getting into price-wise. Then when I saw all the negative posts here about the product itself, I felt like my uneasy feeling was probably justified.

I'm not sure the word "sneaky" is appropriate, but it just seems like they're not very forthcoming.

This might work for you
Oct 1, 2007 4:13PM PDT

This is an all-in-one program that is free.

It is available here:

http://www.download.com/Advanced-WindowsCare-Personal/3000-2086_4-10744227.html?tag=lst-3-2

It does many things to keep your system running well. I use one of there bete programs and it works top notch. I've had no problems with it.

You might also want to search for XP tweaks these are free suggestions on how you can make your computer run faster. These aren't a program just "How To's" to make your computer work better.

Here are some examples: (Avoid number 5.)

http://www.win.org/index.php?option=com_content&task=view&id=143&Itemid=113

How are you set for hardware? I noticed you listed your monitor as your computer system. Do you know the brand and model of computer you have? RAM memory is very cheap now and might be worth the investment.

Have You Tried?
Oct 6, 2007 12:21PM PDT

....going to Start > All Programs > RegCure > Uninstall. If that doesn't work, tell us what errors you are seeing. "It won't let me" doesn't tell us much.. What operating system are you using? The more information you give us, the better informed our answers will be.

Hope this helps.

no no to regcure scam!!!!!
Oct 7, 2007 11:43AM PDT

I just have to say that I to fell for the glam of Regcures free scan because they offered to fix and repair probs they find free, but low and behold they lied and told me I would have to purchase the registered edition to fix the the 2000 errors they found. This to me is the biggest kind of scam on the FREE CLEANER MARKET. Don't fall for it, apparently it's not any good anyway. Thanks for the info on the honest cleaners. Don't go for Spyware Doctor either they run the same scam. cyndygail

I tried what you said and I also went to add and remove programs and all I got was just a slight pause when I clicked remove and that was it. It also wouldn't let me remove CC Cleaner. I am using windows xp sp2. I finally just did a system restore because it wasn't letting me remove them and it didn't give me a reason to why.

there are some left behind
Oct 8, 2007 9:28AM PDT

this is what is left when I do a search:
Regcure Program Check C:\WINDOWS\TASK
Regcure C:\WINDOWS\TASK

and there are 5 folders of the cc cleaner still there (106KB File, 30KB REGCCLEANER2 File, 4 kb File folder, and 24KB PF file)so there still in the computer. I was going to to a select all on the group and delete then delete the recycle bin, will that get rid of the files permanently or will they still be in the computer somewhere. My computer is so slow and I am not sure if it is dial up or just to many hidden folders and junk that I am not sure what to delete. I have 52 processes running it says?????? I did post all the specs for my computer yesterday I think.

If CCleaner is Still Installed...
Oct 11, 2007 12:14AM PDT

...then the CCleaner files NEED to be there. If you don't want CCleaner, then uninstall it correctly.

Likewise, C:\Windows\Tasks is s normal folder on Windows XP.. Why do you think that folder is a Regcure program? If you open the "Tasks" folder and see a "Regcure" task listed there, you can delete the task.. That's fine.

Hope this helps.

OMG!
May 8, 2008 3:25AM PDT

Ok, First, these registry tools, they dont work, if there is legitimate issues in the registry your PC would not boot... or would freeze once it came up, or simply BSOD.
1. Installing firefox does not fix anything.... (like putting a bandaid on a bullet wound)
2. Uninstalling IE7 works, but then you are just going to get the same setting in IE6
3. If the PC is very very slow, there is about an 80% possibility you have a trojan, malware, virus, spyware or other viral software installed on it...
4. (optional) Download hi-jack this, place the scan results on here, as a reply to this, and i will look at them, and if you are infected, ill tell you how to remove whatever it is...
5. Get a good AV, PC-Tools makes a great free one, run a scan... see what comes up
6. Use ad-ware from Lavasoft and see if that finds anything...
7. run system defrag- (right click My Computer, select manage, choose disk defragmenter, analyze, then defrag.. If this has never been done it can take days... Be prepared)
8. Go to start, then run, type in CMD, press OK
9. In the black box, type in Chkdsk -f
10. youll be prompted, type Y for yes.
11. Reboot the PC.

One more thing
May 8, 2008 3:46AM PDT

Windows XP pro (uncertain about home) has a build in regisrty repair console... Simply just run a chkdsk /R
select Y for yes
Reboot..

Regcure Review
May 18, 2008 10:36AM PDT

Hey guys,

chkdsk is for disk error checking and not registry cleaning. Regcure is a pretty cool software that was worth the money - it made my computer work about 40% faster. i found some useful info about regcure in this regcure review site: http://RegistryCleaners.AntiScams.Info/review.php

Please Do NOT Advise Placing HijackThis Logs Here...And..
May 8, 2008 10:19AM PDT

...are you aware you've responded to someone who posted over a year ago..

Although HijackThis can be a great tool when necessary, it's NOT perfect for most Newbies.. A number of good antispyware tools are a better choice for first contact.. If it comes to using HijackThis, then the link below provides the download location and out basic instructions for HJT:

FYI - PLEASE do NOT post any HJT logs in this forum !

RegCure
May 30, 2008 7:41PM PDT

Last year, my computer would barely run. Seriously, it took like 10 minutes for a web page to load!!! Then, I stumbled upon www.registryrepaironline, and they said RegCure was the best registry cleaner. So, I decided to try this registry repair software, and it worked! My computer wasn't all of the sudden lightning fast, since it needed more memory, but it ran a lot better than it had before

RegCure - Watch Out
Aug 4, 2008 7:21AM PDT

I used RegCure to check a system that was getting slow. It automatically put some toolbar or something in my Microsoft Word, crashed the macros I use for work (I work from home), and crashed my printer. After trying to uninstall RegCure, I had to rebuild some of the macros in Word (periodically over 2 days) and I've had to uninstall and reinstall my printer. That took about 5 days.

My system is slower now than before. I don't know what it did, but all my network access is 4 times slower than it was before RegCure.

Buyer beware.
