Question

regarding web design and hosting

Dec 6, 2013 1:43AM PST

Hi all, I want to set up an English language website in Korea with members only pages, where they will have access to audio files for learning English. The website will not be huge as it will be in early stages but will contain a few hundred short audio files (approximately 1 minute long each). Does anyone have any experiences designing such a site? I was thinking of using wordpress with a subscription plugin feature.
Also do you think I will need to use a Korean server?

thanks

Answer
It can be done with "Digital File"

Hi,

This can be done via digital file download plugin or you can play it online. The first one will be a better option as they replay as many times they want and also it is not video streaming where they have watch something.

Downloading digital media files can be combined with the eCommerce platform, if you are planning to do so where the customer can download the file only after paying the seller.

All this can be combined with membership plugin and creating login page on Wordpress/Joomla. Here you can grant selective access and create subscription.

I hope this helps.

Puneet

Answer
Korean server

With regard to the Korean server, I'd definitely go with a server that's physically located in Korea, since that will speed up site delivery (less distance to travel), but that doesn't mean you have to host with a Korean company. I don't know of an American hosting company that has servers there, but generally speaking, hosting companies try to cover the globe with their offerings. That said, if you speak the language and have no problem with currency, a Korean company is just as good.
