Regarding 'PIMP YOUR BLOG...."

Mar 6, 2008 6:07AM PST

Please let's all stop using the verb "PIMP"; let's get it OUT of our vocabulary; it's a demeaning word with a racist and "anti-female" connotation, and there is NOTHING cool about pimps or pimping.

Come on guys...CNET is cooler than this!

I quite agree.

I couldn't agree more. I think the word Pimp is a terrible word and shouldn't be used.

Sadly, I now see it on TV. Discovery Channel has a series called "Pimp my ride". What's that all about?

But back to CNET. Where have you seen this?

Not just racist or female slur

The racist thing is only recent as the word is old. Any such use that abases women, IMO, does the same to men. Surely there are many....and probably the younger ones....that never heard it in its true context. I don't think that makes it acceptable.
