Resolved Question

Regarding GPS...

Nov 28, 2011 8:31AM PST

Can I update maps using a wireless connection to my laptop (then xfer to GPS)? I have MiFi as my only internet connection but was told by Garmin that wireless connections are unstable. If that is correct how do GPS that are installed in an automobile update their maps?

I previously had a TomTom, but it took 1/2 of my 5G to download TomTom Home and update maps the 1st time. It worked for 3 days in Florida before it locked up. When I finally got it working again the maps weren't right. Was told I'd have to update maps again, but was afraid it would use ALL of my data for the month.... Maybe I could have used wifi at a public place, but I returned it.

Would like to try a GPS again if I can figure out a way to update maps.

How I update the car's GPS is

We order a new DVD for the car's GPS. At about 150 bucks this is as much as most spend on a GPS today.

As to your issue. I'd try again but with a free wifi hotpspot.

Yikes! I've asked people who have GPS installed...

how they update and no one could answer me, so I guess they haven't done it yet. Seems quite costly, so it's worth trying it again.

Thanks you Happy
