- If the files are just renamed (the extension changed from whatever it was to .xlsx) rename them back.
- If actually the contents are changed, restore the last version from your backup, but only after you found out what did it and made sure it won't happen again.

Beware any spammer with recovery apps.

This question if the spammers reply will be locked so be sure to never pay for recovery software until they demonstrate it works. Most don't and you are out the money.

More Information Is Needed

Is it just ONE file that has been changed? If so, HOW was it "converted into .xlsx"? Normally, MS Excel should open that file. Do you have Excel installed?

Or are ALL your "pc file" getting "converted to .xlsx"? Which files are being changed to .xlsx? HOW are they being changed?

It would also help if we knew more about your computer. Make and model? Which operating system installed? Is Microsoft Office installed with Excel?

The more information you give us, the better informed our answer will be.

Hope this helps and let us know more.
