Refurbished Dell Latitude D610 Mouse & Keyboard Problem

Sep 24, 2005 5:27AM PDT

my wife recently got a new laptop from her work (it is refurbished). there are two problems we are running into with the laptop.
first, each time we boot up the computer, it says 'Found New Hardware' and acts like it is installing the driver for the keyboard. it then can't find the driver for the device and doesn't install. the keyboard on the laptop works fine, but it's annoying to have it do this every time you boot up
the second problem involves a USB Optical Mouse we are trying to use, instead of the touch pad. it is a Dell mouse, but the driver for it also cannot be found. how can i get it to recognize the mouse?
the laptop is a Dell Latitude D610 running Windows XP Service Pack 2.
Thanks for the help.
