Reformat?

by wpwhra / February 23, 2006 10:14 PM PST

IBM Windows 98: How can I reformat when it won't complete the boot or go into safe mode? Sometimes it says Operating System can't be found after the Windows 98 Logo appears. I cleaned up several viruses now it won't complete the boot. All F keys (except F1) cause a Keyboard Error. AVG virus boot scan works but then shuts down computer. Can not stop AVG virus boot scan with Escape key.

Hey, how can you keep the Win98 Logo appearing in startup.
After the AVG was installed, my Win98 Logo was missed!

1. get a w98 boot floppy; when booted to A:\> prompt type SYS C: to put system boot files back on.
2. You can't "reformat" from an active OS (W98). you must use the boot floppy.
3. Reformatting will wipe the Hdd. Are you sure you don't mean "restore"? (you'll need the "quick restore" CD).
4. you could use the AVG "rescue" floppy, if you had made one. Virus removal may have wiped some needed files.

The Samsung RF23M8090SG

One of the best French door fridges we've tested

A good-looking fridge with useful features like an auto-filling water pitcher and a temperature-adjustable "FlexZone" drawer. It was a near-flawless performer in our cooling tests.
