Question

Refilled Print Cartridges

I have an HP Envy 4512 printer. I am attempting to re-use the color cartridge after I refilled with ink.

How can I reset the ink level so that the printer will print in color?

Answer
My answer is no.

But those that sell the refill kits should have their answer handy.

The ink is not for one specific cartridge.

Re: not for one specific cartridge.

They might have different instructions for different cartridges or different printers. Did you ask?

Ink Supplier

The ink supplier does not have an answer other than to ignore the error messages.

I am trying to determine whether or not the printer software is ignoring the fact that the cartridge now has ink.

Have you checked out any of these

Good advice.

Ignore the message and see how long you can print.

Printer Release Date

How can I find out how long the Envy 4512 has been on the market?

That looks like the Walmart version

But the line seems to have been on the market since March 30, 2011

In other words, if it lasted this long, it did well.

A Long Time

Five years seems like a long time for someone to not have come up with a chip resetter or other means to facilitate refilled cartridges. Mine has been refilled now for several days and the colors are still fading out before the print job finishes, as if the cartridge is running out of ink (which it is not). Thanks for all who tried to help. I did discover that chip resetters exist for other printers, just not my HP.
