Question

Reduce space between paragraphs in Word 2003 Table?

Jun 14, 2015 9:54AM PDT

I've created a little Word 2003 table that prints out sets of file folder labels on 3x5 paper.

I'm trying to figure out how to reduce the space between the lines of text on the labels. Each line is designated a "paragraph" by Word 2003, because I use the <Enter> key to designate the end of the line of text.

I looked in the paragraph settings, but it shows spacing before and after each paragraph as 0 (See image appended below).

What's the trick to closing up that gap between the lines?

Reduce space between paragraphs in Word 2003 Table?
Jun 15, 2015 8:30AM PDT

Hi, R. Proffitt,

I tried entering a -1 and that actually greatly increased the space between the lines.

I tried entering a -2, and that resulted in chopping off the tops of the characters.

So for now I'm going to go back to using a marking pen and hand writing the labels. I'm facing a deadline to get packed up and moved out and don't have any more time to try to figure this out.

Thanks for the reply!

I change the line distance from "Single" (as in your screen print) to "Exact" and use less than the default. That works for a normal document, but I didn't test it for labels. If it doesn't work for labels, I'd use larger labels or a smaller font.
