Recycling

May 8, 2007 1:10AM PDT

In light of the waste and environmental damage that is associated with disposing of computers (not to speak of the difficulty, in some places), I am really big on recycling them. I did so, a year ago, with a Mac 7100 and an old PowerBook (and compatible software and peripherals) that I really didn't think anyone would want. Don't know whether I'm allowed to mention the name of the outfit I used, but if so, I'll be glad to share it. It is a national concern, and they match you up with people who want your equipment. Someone in my area did, and even picked the stuff up. Got a tax deduction, too, but that really wasn't the point.

I know that there are many other places that do the same thing, and though some computer companies will take back their computers, this just seems a way to share the benefits: I get rid of what I can't use, and someone else or a group gets free stuff that may give them a leg up on whatever they need or want to do.

Think about it.
