recurring corrupt or missing hal.dll error

Jul 23, 2007 10:50AM PDT

This error message keeps happening. I found out it is not hal.dll but the boot.ini pointing to a incorrect pointer. The first time it was anincorrect pointer and the scond time there were no entries. What could be causing this problem to keep happening?

Windows Xp Professional

hal.dll problem
Aug 4, 2007 4:56AM PDT

I've just reinstalled win xp on one of my drives and am having a problem with the hal.dll. It's NOT a boot.ini problem. I have researched Microsoft's newsletters and found that it is a problem very familiar to many. It also seems to have been a Win 98 and NT4 problem as well. In XP it seems to have appeared after SP2. I have attempted all of MS's solutions and nothing works. If you find the answer to your problem please post.
