If that is the recovery partition inserted by the manufacturer, the simple answer is you shouldn't. The partition is protected so you don't accidentally modify the contents and is usually just larger than what's actually needed to store the data. You could use a third-party partitioning tool to shrink it, but it's somewhat risky. Instead, I'd burn a set of recovery discs from that partition using the manufacturer's burning tool found in the Start menu and then duplicate the discs for a backup. You can then safely wipe the partition as you'll have two working copies of the contents.

Well, YES, It IS The Recovery Partition But...

..you don't care whether you remove it or not.. Isn't that correct? It's up to you whether you want to remove it or not and many do once they create Recovery Discs from the partition but it's important that you know the risks.. You might want to test those Recovery Discs before removing the Recovery partition but it's up to you.

IN order to give you more precise advise about how to remove the Recovery partition, it would help if we knew the brand name and the model number of the computer you're using.. For example.. On an HP computer with XP, the instructions are in the link below:

Any other computer, let us know.

Hope this helps.
