Why not provide details of the problems you are having with your PC/XP?
Perhaps someone may have the solution for you.
As for the Recovery Console read the thread further down as links on the recovery console are provided there.
To perform a clean install all you need to do is set your PC to boot from the CD Rom drive and boot with the XP CD and delete the partition followed by creating a new partition.
It will then let you format & setup XP on a clean HDD.
Make sure you back up all your files, emails, addressbook, favorites before you proceed.

I've been having problems with my off line computer thats running XP Home with SP1a. I went into the Restore System and went to click on a date that the system was working Ok and none of the days behind todays date would even press down, so I couldn't go back in time. I've read some of the posts and have seen the term Recovery Console mentioned and was wonderng how to access it and use it. Also is there a web site where I could go and print out a full set of instrutions on how to reformat and reload XP Home into my computer? Step by step right from the crash. Thanks for you help
